RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to visit Bengal for 10 days; RSS looks to expand its influence

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat will begin his 10-day visit to West Bengal on February 7, where he will stay until February 16. During the first five days in Kolkata, Bhagwat will meet with RSS leaders from various organizational levels to discuss strategic matters and the expansion of the organization in the state. These meetings will focus on strengthening the RSS’s framework and ensuring its operational success across different sectors. However, no public rallies or events are scheduled for this part of his visit, as Bhagwat's engagements will primarily be with leaders and local influencers in Kolkata.

On February 11, Bhagwat will take a one-day break before resuming his tour of South Bengal districts. After the rest day, he will visit several districts, including Bardhaman, where he is expected to hold his only public rally on February 16. In addition to the rally, Bhagwat will meet with regional RSS leaders, local activists, and prominent figures from Bardhaman and surrounding areas. These engagements are expected to focus on organizational growth, community outreach, and strengthening ties between RSS leadership and local stakeholders.

The visit takes place amid ongoing tensions between India and Bangladesh, with particular concern over the rise of radical elements in Bangladesh. Although no direct reference has been made to the situation in Bangladesh, Bhagwat’s visit occurs at a time when regional dynamics are under scrutiny. The RSS’s role in addressing social and political issues in the state may also come up in the discussions, although specific objectives regarding Bangladesh are not publicly stated.

During the tour, Bhagwat will also assess the performance of RSS activities in the state and may discuss plans to bolster its presence in both urban and rural areas. Political analysts note that the RSS has been a key player in BJP’s electoral strategies, and Bhagwat’s visit is likely to be seen as a significant event in the context of the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections. Bhagwat’s meetings with local leaders and the public rally in Bardhaman are expected to influence the RSS's approach to its political involvement in the region.
